Healthy Tuna Salad
Crispy crunchy salad with homemade garlic-yogurt dressing
Would you like to eat more salads but find yourself stuck with same recipes all the time? Do you think salads are boring and taste all the same? Well, then hold on thight as I am going to prove that wrong :)

I have always loved salads and I still do love them, all different kinds of them, the healthier ones and also those more filling with some carbs in them. However, when I moved to Germany to live together with my boyfriend, I found myself challenged by the fact that he didn´t like eating salads at all. That being said, green salads in his mind were, lettuce, cucumber and tomatoe, that´s it. I mean, who would not be bored of eatig salads if that is what you eat every time whenever you eat a salad? I would! That is when I started experimenting more and more with salad recipes and got him to try them, as he is a curious one and couldn´t resist :D Today we are in a place where he also makes salads himself and adds his own ideas to them, like with this delicious tuna salad.

It was one of those days when I was busy doing something and we were both getting hungry so my boyfriend started making this salad himself. I was just hearing "Carrot? Cucumber? What else?", when suddenly he says "Can I add garlic and yogurt?". Those who know me, will know what I mean here, my face cannot lie and people always see what I think, even if I haven´t said a word. That is also what my boyfriend saw when he looked at me, I didn´t like the idea, well I was not sure it would taste good. But as he is as stubbern as I am, he just said ok, I will still make it my way :D And I am so glad he did! The addition of that dressing to the salad was like a cherry on top, perfect fit, which made this salad so much better :) I must say, I think raw garlic is so underrated!

As a proud beginner gardener I must add that the lettuce, the arugula and those beautiful little candy like tomatoes were all home grown in our garden :) If you have a garden, you should try planting tomatoes as they taste so much better than those store bought.

I hope you will also enjoy this healthy tuna salad recipe and let me know what you think about the garlic-yogurt dressing addition to it :)

Enjoy!

RECIPE
Healthy Tuna Salad
Crispy crunchy salad with homemade garlic-yogurt dressing
INGREDIENTS

-
1 small salad head
-
small bunch of arugula (optional)
-
half of a cucumber
-
1 small white onion
-
2 medium carrots
-
20 cherry tomatoes or 3 regular tomatoes
-
1 can of tuna in water

-
2-3 tbsp natural flavoured yogurt (I use Greek yogurt)
-
1 garlic clove
-
salt
-
black pepper

DIRECTIONS

-
Start by washing all of the vegetables well.
-
Slice the salad and arugula roughly and add to a big bowl.
-
Cube the cucumber and finely dice the onion. Add to the bowl with the salad.
-
Peel the carrots and grate on a grater. Also add into the salad bowl.
-
Half the cherry tomatoes and add them also to the salad bowl.
-
Strain the water from the tuna and crumble the tuna chunks into the salad.
-
Measure 2 tablespoons of yogurt into a small bowl. Peel the garlic and press through a garlic press into the yogurt (alternatively you can dice the garlic finely). Season with some salt and pepper and give a good mix. Add the dressing to the salad and mix the salad well so that all of the vegetables are covered with the yogurt dressing.
-
Serve fresh as a side salad or as a light meal on its own.
